Made in China

crochet doll

After traveling through China for almost twenty days, we are now trying to settle back into our regular routines while suffering from some major jet lag. It is nice to be home again and to now be a mother to two beautiful girls. Feel free to stop by my travel blog to see pictures from our trip.

One of my favorite shopping experiences while in Guangzhou China (which is in the southern part of the country) was a little shop called “A Gift from China.” As Guangzhou’s first charity store, all profits go towards helping orphaned and abandoned children in China. You can read more about the organization that runs the shop, The Good Rock Foundation, here. I purchased this beautiful hand-made crocheted doll for our new daughter Maya from the store. You can also purchase items from them on-line here.

Laugh with me, not at me

I am just about finished with the cute little baby sweater. On Sunday evening I sewed up the shoulder seams and the hat. I was making excellent progress last night while putting on one of the sleeves until I realized that I sewed it on backwards (one end is wider than the other)! My husband laughed so hard his asthma flared up. I would have kicked him if it wasn’t for the fact that he ripped out the seams so I could try again tonight. He wanted me to take a picture of it, but I was too embarrassed.

Moving on, would you all please check out this Etsy shop Buggy About Beads. The jewelry, handmade by the niece of Joannah,  is really pretty. I am impressed that such a young woman has found a passion for jewelry making so early in life, and has set up an Etsy shop to boot! Good for her!

On another note, I know that I promised to post pictures of my 12 x 12 scrapbooking pages, but it seems that the scanner we recently bought is a smaller size. I am so bummed that I can’t fit my whole scrapbooking page on it. Oh well, it does come in handy for scanning old family photos!

I better get moving. Our first real snow storm is supposed to hit later on today, so I need to make a run to the grocery store. The one thing I love to do while it’s snowing outside (other than playing in it) is to bake!
