I’ve got warm weather on the brain. How could that be, with a high of only 3 degrees outside? You heard me right, 3 degrees! It is COLD! Anyway, the warm weather I am dreaming about obviously isn’t here, but in Jamaica. That is where we will be spending our family vacation this spring. You can see a picture of the lovely resort at one of my other blogs here.
Even though it is still weeks away, I was eyeing some beach bags in Target yesterday. Then I was thinking that maybe I should try to make another little felted bag with all that purple and green wool for my trip. Viv sent me the link to this Booga Bag pattern. It looks like it would be the perfect size for a book and a pair of sunglasses, which is all I really need to sit on the beach. Still, I wonder if I was to double the pattern would it result in a much larger beach type bag, or just be kind of a strange medium awkward size. I guess since I can’t yet be on vacation, I feel like I should be making something for vacation. So, should I make this cute little bag for shopping/reading and just buy the Target beach bag, or scrap the entire idea and start on this cute little baby blanket (the one in the middle) I saw in the Lion Brand catalog? And speaking of the catalog, you can get one for free here. Oh, and I did say that I would work on knitting a dress for my daughter, right?
Ahhh, I just can’t seem to make up my mind as to which project I should work on next!
By the way, I am very close to finishing the baby sweater that I have been working on. Next Sunday night my girlfriend and I will be meeting up again so she can show me how to sew up this baby. I will post pictures when it is all finished.
You’re freaking me out…I have that exact pattern printed out and in my “Things I want to Knit Someday” binder!!!
If you do double it, post a pic, I want to know what you think.
I LOVE that bag. You kill me, I drool over your craftiness. When it comes to that kind of crafting I am a complete dolt.
Oooh! I love the bag! And the baby blanket! Decisions, decisions! I would say the bag, and then work on the blanket while on vacation!
Can’t wait to see the sweater-
Wow, did you make that? I have had the pattern for eons but still haven’t gotten around to making it. Maybe this’ll be the year! 🙂
By the way, I’m notoriously slow to mail things out, but I haven’t forgotten about you!
I have warm weather on the brain too. I figure that if I start my spring knits now maybe they’ll be finished when the weather to wear them in arrives!
I’ve seen that blanket and love it. I was going to do it, but swore to finish a sweater first. Now the sweater is done, but i screwed up sewing the last sleeve on. It looks stupid. I can’t decide whether to undo and re-do, or start something new. Fixing simply isn’t as much fun as starting.
Anywho, what colors are you going to do it in?
I’ve made the booga. It’s easy and a nice travelling knit because of size. I don’t know that I would use it as a beach bag since the sand will embed in the wool forever (at least the sand here in SC would). But to knit on vacation… it’s a great pick. BTW… the hedge hog (from my blog) is a Fiber Trends pattern, pretty widely available through various sites.
I’ve made several Boogas. It’s a great bag. I must warn you, however, that it’s not quite as big as it looks in that photo. Compare it to the chair, and put it in perspective. Just the same, it’s a fabulous project. The colors that you have in mind would be beautiful.
Go with the bag, and the baby sweater, you’ll feel great once it’s sewn up.
Oooo, that Booga bag looks awesome, I hope you make one…looks like it might be perfect to take with you to enjoy some of that Jamaican sun!
Love the idea of that bag in BIG!!
I’m all about the baby stuff, so I say do the blanket. If you still want to do the bag, you can use it to go to the shore in the summer. I can’t wait to see that beautiful baby sweater all completed!
Good lord, I love that bag… but wool on the beach? Not sure about that for myself. I’d buy the beach tote and work on the blanked and dress! But I do love that bag…
