I am really thrilled that another one of my husband’s home improvement projects is finished. What was once our laundry room has been transformed into a very functional mudroom. With hooks for our coats, baskets to hold various things (hats, gloves, recyclables) and a place to take off shoes, he has created the perfect space right next to our back door. You can even just see (in the first picture) the wooden MUDROOM letters hung up above the coat hooks. Leah even thinks it’s a cool place to hang out (although that doesn’t look very comfortable to me).
So, what’s next on his ever growing “honey do” list? I’ll give you a hint – see those pretty toy storage units in the picture that my husband is holding? Yep, we are both too frugal to buy them from the source, so as Joe always enthusiastically says, “I can build that!” And believe me, he can!
Does Joe have a brother? I’m looking for a handy guy! 😉
This is exactly what I am imagining for my sunroom aka Mesa’s bedroom… You have given me inspiration instead of spending bucks on Pottery Barn I will build one!!! I am hoping Santa will bring me an air compression and a finish nail gun!!!

It looks great! Is your laundry still there? We have a big storage area off the kitchen that we want to turn into a mudroom, but I want to move the laundry up there too…
And building toy storage is next on M’s list as well. If you find some plans, let us know.
What a great mudroom! I’ve always wanted one, but our house isn’t set up the right way. Congratulations on a job well done!
That is one fine looking mudroom Stephanie! Your husband is very talented.
Wow…great-looking mudroom! Congrats! And the storage unit for the toys looks like a fun project too. I need to have my dad help me frame up something in our basement. We had new kitchen countertops installed last year, and (being the pack-rat that I am) I kept the old ones to use for the soon-to-be craft room. I have all these great images in my head of what I want it to look like. I need to get them on paper and start cutting and nailing!
How nice! Now you’ve got me thinking of way to incorporate a resting spot by my back door/laundry room. Hmmm…
I’d like to clone him! Funny, we are looking for storage solutions right now too – I have been researching toy storage and entryway storage options for the last few days, in fact, similar to the one you have. Do you three wanna visit Maine for a few days and do some work? We’ll cook up some lobstah…
Wonderful!! Great organization. Bold color. I’m inspired!
BTW, I love this new blog. Even though I don’t comment much. (my blogging is normally done in a hurry these days) I still love it and visit often.
What a GREAT new space! Love the wall color, the baskets and the mudroom letters….well, I guess I just like it all.
I saw that expensive toy storage unit in the catalog and if you’re hubby can duplicate that, he’s a keeper!
Donna 🙂
It looks great, and I can’t wait to see the storage units. Joe is very talented.
Wow! that looks great! get a cushion for that bench and I bet everyone will be reading there!
These pictures of your home are beautiful! I love your mud room. 🙂
What a beautiful job your husband did with the mudroom! I really like the color that you picked out for the walls too. Looking forward to seeing the completed toy shelves… do you think Leah will be able to fit in that?
Do you have toy shelves now? My husband made those very toy shelves a few years ago and they have been so useful! We have moved into another home since he built them but with them being modular, they work perfectly here too. 🙂
Just poking around this morning and enjoying your blog. Welcome home!
