It amazes me that you can take a simple ball of yarn and create something so beautiful. I just finished making this Sophie bag from Magknits. Knitted with the recommended Cascade 220 wool, it was pretty easy to knit for an advance beginner like myself. I was also lucky to be able to meet my girlfriend at a local bookstore caf
e over the last couple weeks. She taught me how to use the circular needles, pick up stitches and make the i-cords. Without her (and some e-mail encouragement from Viv) I probably wouldn’t have even attempted to make it. Now, I can’t wait to start on my next one (although this time I might just run it through the wash one more time – I think I would have preferred the extra felted look)!
In the meantime, I will be heading off tomorrow to meet up with thirty-three other women (and one really fun blogging friend) for a long weekend of scrapbooking. I, like most scrapbookers I know, am very far behind on my albums. I hope that with a little work and some time to focus (i.e. no kids running around) I will catch up a little bit. See you on Monday!

Yay! Looks great. Isn’t felting so much fun? I only ran my first Sophie bag through once too, and on the second one decided I wanted it to be more felted. I’m glad you had a good experience with the pattern (and someone to help you). What’s next?
That is a beautiful purse. I love the color. One of my students’ mothers from last year was a knitting and she made the felted purses. They were/are gorgeous. She knitted me the prettiest little scarf.
I so admire your talent!
Have a fun weekend. Tell Tammie that I said hello!
Er… she was a knitter, not a “knitting”.
I need another cup of coffee…
The bag looks really good. I’ve been meaning to do one of these for ages. Have fun on your scrapbooking weekend!
I too love the color, simply gorgeous! Hope your weekend was wonderful. Talk to you soon!
Lovin’ the bag! Very impressed with your talent, and your ability to pick up new methods of knitting so quickly. I’m still struggling with all of it. Oh well, practice makes perfect I guess, and I need to get-a practicing! Hope the scrapbooking retreat was fun- I could use one of those myself~
The bag looks great – congratulations. Enjoy the scrapbooking, it’s the one craft I don’t do…
I’m cranking out bags like crazy. And how much are you loving how FAST the i-cord is???? Oh man, almost as good as buying handles!
Looks awesome, I’m going to go check out that pattern. And I look forward to seeing your scrap layouts too!
I’ll be posting a lot of the felted bags I’m making for Christmas gifts, a whopping five but I think I’ll finish them all.
Circular needles scared the hell out of me the first time I used them, now they’re my fav.
I had been following your adoption blog for a while—I’m a fellow waiting family LID 9-29-05. So I’ve moved over to your crafty spot to get some inspiration. LOVED the look of this bag so I’m attempting my first ever bag and felting project–hope it looks half as good as yours.
